Acne Treatment
Acne is a common, chronic skin condition caused by inflammation of oil-producing sebaceous glands. Acne is formed when dead skin cells and oil (sebum) form a sticky plug that clogs up skin pores. This leads to a build-up of bacteria that is trapped in the pores, creating an unsightly inflammation.
Acne problems usually begin between the ages 10-13, and can persist for 5 to 10 years. Acne and skin breakouts are very common on the face, but can also occur on the neck, chest, back, shoulders, upper arms and legs, as well as the scalp. Not only does acne look unattractive, it can also be a source of anxiety and deep personal embarrassment. It is estimated that 75% of all teenagers and young adults suffer from acne. Acne can also affect people in their 30s and 40s. The treatment of acne can often be frustrating and time-consuming with unsatisfying results.
